RIPE is a nonprofit organization established to administer and register Internet Protocol (IP) numbers in Europe. It allocates blocks of IP addresses that it has received from IANA (Internet Assigned Number Authority). Two similar organizations exist: ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) and APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre).

Refer to "Registries on the Internet." The RIPE Web site is at http://www.ripe.net.
