PPS (Packets per Second) Related Entries Web Links New/Updated Information Note: Many topics at this site are reduced versions of the text in "The Encyclopedia of Networking and Telecommunications." Search results will not be as extensive as a search of the book's CD-ROM. Packets per second (pps) is a measure of throughput for network devices such as bridges, routers, and switches. It's a reliable measurement only if all packet sizes are the same. Vendors will often rate their equipment based on pps, but make sure comparisons are made using the same packet sizes. These rates are discussed under "Throughput." Copyright (c) 2001 Tom Sheldon and Big Sur Multimedia. |
