Search results will not be as extensive as a search of the book's CD-ROM. OpenView is a family of network management products designed by Hewlett-Packard. Both OpenView and Sun Microsystems' SunNet Manager use a platform architecture approach in which a platform is designed that handles all the core functions required for a network management system. These functions include communication protocol interfaces, data definitions, and other management features. Other products designed by the platform vendor or other vendors then plug into or interface with the platform and gain all its built-in functions, such as access to a multiprotocol network, multivendor systems, and data management schemes.
