Search results will not be as extensive as a search of the book's CD-ROM. A media gateway is part of the softswitch architecture, an architecture that is used in the convergence of voice and data networks. A service provider or carrier can replace expensive and bulky class 5 voice telephone switches with less expensive softswitches that support the interaction of Internet telephony and PSTN networks. See "Softswitch" and "Voice over IP (VoIP)" for more information. Copyright (c) 2001 Tom Sheldon and Big Sur Multimedia. |
