Finger

Finger is a UNIX and Internet utility that can be used to find out if a user is logged on. The command may display information about the user, depending on the operating system and security policies in place. The command requires the user ID or name of a user. For example, you could type finger somebody@ntresearch.com to see if I am working at my Web site.
