Content Distribution Related Entries Web Links New/Updated Information Note: Many topics at this site are reduced versions of the text in "The Encyclopedia of Networking and Telecommunications." Search results will not be as extensive as a search of the book's CD-ROM. Content distribution, sometimes called controlled content distribution or CCD, provides a way to improve the performance of content delivery from Web sites for users. Content is typically moved to strategically placed servers around the globe where it is closer to users. Requests and responses may take only a few router hops rather than many hops. This topic continues in "The Encyclopedia of Networking and Telecommunications." Copyright (c) 2001 Tom Sheldon and Big Sur Multimedia. |
