USENET is a newsgroup service for implementing discussion groups on the Internet and other TCP/IP-based networks. Originally, USENET relied on a message exchange system called UUCP (UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Program). Today, message delivery is primarily handled by an Internet protocol called NNTP (Network News Transport Protocol).
