Stateful inspection is a firewall technology developed by Check Point Software and implemented in its FireWall-1 product. Stateful inspection actively tracks all TCP and UDP connections during their life. When a packet arrives from outside the firewall, it must belong to a TCP or UDP connection that is being tracked. If not, the packet is dropped. See "Firewall."
