Internet RFCs not listed in the book:

  • RFC 2379 (RSVP over ATM Implementation Guidelines, August 1998)
  • RFC 2380 (RSVP over ATM Implementation Requirements, August 1998)
  • RFC 2381 (Interoperation of Controlled-Load Service and Guaranteed Service with ATM, August 1998)
  • RFC 2382 (A Framework for Integrated Services and RSVP over ATM, August 1998)

Some early RFCs related to flow control, QoS, and admission control include the following:

  • RFC 1363 (A Proposed Flow Specification, September 1992)
  • RFC 2211 (Specification of the Controlled-Load Network Element Service, September 1997)
  • RFC 2212 (Specification of Guaranteed Quality of Service, September 1997)

In particular, RFC 2381 provides insight and guideolines for mapping service classes, and traffic management features and parameters between Internet and ATM technologies. The service mappings are useful for providing effective interoperation and end-to-end Quality of Service for IP Integrated Services networks containing ATM subnetworks. Also refer to Differentiated Services (DiffServ), Integrated Services (Int-Serv), and RSVP (Resource Reservation Protocol) for more information, relavent RFCs, and Web Links.
